MONU-MEN-T

MONU-MEN-T

In the past year, we have heard about woman empowerment and woman safety so much that it is no longer a fleeting memory or a coincidental thought. It has gained national importance and why not; after all, women empowerment is of absolute necessity if a country has to go forward.

The recent events of Dadri and the subsequent event at Palwal has sparked nationwide debate on religious morality and violence (Read: Intolerance). But, is religion and morals really at fault here? Think about it, Dadri lynching was carried out by men and similarly, at Palwal too. Men are at problem and not their religion.

The rapists at Kamala Mills and Delhi (Nirbhaya) involved men who weren’t educated or were under the influence of alcohol. Men were at fault and not the alcohol.

So, instead of focusing so much on women and their situation, shouldn’t the focus be shifted a little towards educating men and monitoring them? Recent survey suggests that men who are educated and earning a decent salary are more tolerant and respectful. Joblessness and ignorance causes brainwashing and results in the merciless incidents harming everyone and becomes a nice fodder for the negative news hungry-media to report on.

Coming to the Cartoon of Indian Politics, Arvind Kejriwal. The AAP leader and CM of Delhi (makes you doubt the intelligence of Delhi-ites) has just approved a recommendation of increasing the salary of Delhi MLAs 400 times. Really? You want to eat more than what you have now? All they do is watch Hindi movies, review it and blame everything on PM Modi. Couldn’t this money be put to good use? Like increasing job opportunities and tie-ing up with educational institutes for free education.

Giving Yoga Guru and an FMCG giant Baba Ramdev an island to carry out his yoga practices might be a good decision but it might not strike a chord if it doesn’t help in rehabilitating violent and brainwashed men. Steps need to be taken to make sure the trouble makers are detained and educated rather than pointing fingers at political parties.

As we see, we have both the money and space to stop the incidents festering in our country. All that needs to be done by the incumbent government is to stop playing the blame game with an opposition minister (well known for his funny speeches and likeness of Chota Bheem) or a criminal ex-CM (Fodder thief) and start cleaning its dirt and recycling the damaged goods. This will help big time in cleaning India’s image and have no option for Negative- media but to focus on less-negative issues.

‘Acche din’ will come only when ‘padhe-likhe’ and ‘naukri’ din come for everyone.
